Challenge
H.R. Owen is a luxury car dealership specialising in the sale, service and repair of high-end vehicles. Its diverse portfolio includes high-end brands, including Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Lotus. Based primarily in London, the company expanded its operations with a new facility in Hatfield to support its growing business. Due to the high value of the vehicles on display, this new site required a comprehensive, high-security solution tailored for a luxury automotive environment.
Key requirements
Solution
“During the planning stages with H.R. Owen and the architects, it was clear that ASSA ABLOY’s SMARTair® solution was the only real choice for the site,” says Matthew Taylor, Operations Director at Knightsbridge Security, responsible for the system installation.
Among more than 100 devices installed throughout the facility, SMARTair Wall Readers and SMARTair i-max Escutcheons were selected for their sleek aesthetics and versatility. SMARTair devices are wireless, and therefore fast and costeffective to fit. With no need for extensive cabling, devices are quickly deployed, minimizing onsite disruption. Another benefit of choosing wireless, the reach of H.R. Owen’s solution can be easily extended or reconfigured anytime, protectingth eir investment for the long term.
The SMARTair system enables remote access management, allowing administrators to grant, monitor, or revoke access rights in real time in response to any potential threat.
H.R. Owen also chose SMARTair’s mobile access solution Openow®: staff use their smartphones as credentials instead of physical cards. This boosts both security – fewer lost credentials – and sustainability performance by cutting single-use plastics. The Openow® Parking Mode feature allows authorized personnel to open parking barriers from 3–5 meters away using their mobile device, enhancing both driver safety and vehicle protection, by eliminating the need to exit the vehicle.
A robust wireless device to bring secure RFID and BLE unlocking to every high-traffic door. i-max, an electronic escutcheon is easy to retrofit and compatible with Standalone, UOC, online or offline system management.
