In the heart of Ditchling near Brighton, UK, The Bull, has been welcoming travellers and locals for over 500 years, offering pub and bed & breakfast facilities. The 16th century inn was voted by the Sunday Times as one of the top 10 pubs in the UK. The Bull recently underwent an extensive renovation. As part of that renovation, management sought a security solution that would upgrade the inn from mechanical systems to access control throughout the site. Ideally, the solution would allow guests to use entry cards on the bed and breakfast rooms, whilst also restricting certain pub access points for staff and management.
Local locksmiths, Lock Assist recommended SMARTair™ from Mul-T-Lock, an all in one access control system, which removes the need for expensive data cabling and re-wiring. Moreover, it’s sleek design means that it blends nicely into The Bull’s new aesthetics. Improved security and access control is not the only improvement SMARTair provided; checking guests in and out has become a smoother, more efficient process. Steve Ross, Managing Director of Mul-T-Lock UK, had this to say about how the solution addresses The Bull’s needs, “For The Bull and similar pubs combined with bed and breakfast offerings, any access control security solution must deliver flexibility, convenience and usability. SMARTair offers all of these features and more in a sleek design, presenting an intuitive solution that is also substantially lower than the cost of integrating a full access control system.”
SMARTair overcame many of the obstacles traditionally associated with access control systems with its ease of installation and use, modern, sleek design and excellent range of functionality. Molly Raftery, Manager of The Bull, reiterated this by saying, “I was especially impressed with the style of SMARTair™ and also its flexibility in design, offering an ability to instantly allow or deny access rights throughout the pub and bed and breakfast facilities. The result is a smoother operating business as guests can be checked in and out quickly and efficiently whilst access points throughout the premises can be effectively managed.”
